Schools
Smethport’s modern high school and elementary school are built
beside each other on the southern hillside high above town. It is
symbolic of the high priority placed on education in the community.
Not only does Smethport schools academic environment thrive, but
the Smethport Hubbers (Named after the McKean County Seat, Smethport,
being “the hub” of McKean County) sports teams have gained
state-wide respect. Boys and girls teams are usually champions at
some state level in the post season Pennsylvania state playoffs.
The Seneca highland Area Vocational-Technical School in near-by
Port Allegany offers an option for students to attend a technically
based educational system.
For elementary aged students wanting a parochial education, the
Smethport Regular Babtist Church provides Christian based schooling.
